Also referred to as "moss people", butterfly fairies are thought to have  originated in Switzerland and/or Germany, the Islands, and Africa. These exceptional creatures are very shy and they go out of their way to avoid humans.  They typically hide in dark, mossy areas. To see them is a blessing and means good fortune for you. Sightings of these fairies is uncommon due to the expansion of civilization and reduction of woodland areas.

Butterfly fairies have butterfly wings attached to their bodies and they can be male or female.  They are often mistaken for Monarch butterflies. They generally don't aid humans but if they come to trust you are good luck to have around. Should you happen upon a butterfly faery move slowly and make no attempt to capture it. Let it know you are a friend and mean it no harm.

Details: This Fairy Ju Ju doll is constructed out of sticks and Spanish moss, and adorned with the finest fancy yarns and beads. His wings are made out of silk leaves and flower petals. He is wearing a necklace which contains a bottle of fairy dust to bless your home and hearth. His hat is a pod of some sort that I found in the woods and his face is hand sculpted out of polymer clay with painted features. Finally, this fairy ju ju doll is self-standing on a wooden base and comes signed by the artist for authenticity.

Price $39.95

James Matthew Barrie (Peter, in Peter Pan, act 1)--"When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. So there ought to be one fairy for every boy or girl."
